On Tuesday, July 8, Squadrone gathered a prominent group of attendees at the Port of Barcelona for an operational demonstration of the IRIS anti-drone radar. During the event, the capabilities of Squadrone and Robin Radar Systems were presented. The two companies have partnered to develop and deploy radar technology in Spain to combat the threat of unauthorized drones. Following the presentation, a live demonstration of the equipment was conducted with the collaboration of Red Team Shield, which simulated various drone threats, primarily FPV, from different locations around the port.
The event was attended by representatives of the Armed Forces (FAS) and the Security Forces and Bodies (CFSE), as well as corporate executives, security directors of critical infrastructure, and heads of Spanish business associations.
Luis Gordo, CEO of Squadrone, emphasized that we are currently normalizing a threat that, until recently, was considered an isolated incident, and highlighted the importance of integrating multiple technologies to ensure a reliable solution against potential future threats.
For his part, Pere Ferrer, current BDM of Squadrone and former Director General of the Catalan Police, also stressed that the key lies in staying ahead of the threat: “You cannot neutralize what you have not first been able to detect. A reliable, real-time aerial image is what allows for informed decision-making and coordinated responses.”
During the operational demonstration, and in a challenging urban environment, the system proved its effectiveness in detecting potential threats from FPV drones flying either individually or in groups, and showed how it facilitates the work of operators, as well as its ability to integrate into a common environment alongside other detection and neutralization technologies.
From Squadrone.es, we would like to thank all the attendees for their participation, and especially the cooperation of the corporate security managers of the Port of Barcelona.
Our thanks to Robin Radar Systems, Red Team Shield, and the Port of Barcelona for their collaboration in this operational demonstration.
